Laser Resurfacing

What is Laser Resurfacing?

If you have damaged skin, fine wrinkles, acne scars or hyperpigmentation (age spots) you may be a candidate for Laser Resurfacing. The laser can be used on the entire face or specific areas, leaving a smoother, more youthful looking skin of more uniform colour.

What is Involved?

The procedure is done as a day surgery in our Surgical Centre. Anesthetics used could be local with sedation or a general anesthetic.
The superficial layers of the skin are removed by the pulsed laser. The depth of the treatment is extremely controlled and predictable.

What is the Healing Time?

Discomfort is managed with oral medication.
The skin is raw and red looking the first few days. Healing will take a full 7 to 10 days.
Make up may be worn once the healing has taken place. Extreme care must be used in avoiding sun exposure while there is any redness to the skin.
Most patients are back to work within 2 - 3 weeks.
